Marriage License
The following is a general list of requirements to get a marriage license in the State of Ohio. The county Probate Court where you go to get your license may have slightly different requirements, therefore, be sure to contact your county for the exact details.
General Information:
- There is no waiting period to use your license
- Licenses are valid for 60 days from issuance
- No Blood Tests are required
- If parties are not 18 years old, contact county office for specifis.
Required Documents:
- Government issued ID such as drivers license, visa, passport, state ID
- Social Security Card
- Proof of age - Birth Certificate
- If Previously Married: certified copy of divorce decree or a copy of deceased spouse's death certificate
Residency Requirement:
- You DO NOT have to be a resident of Ohio. If you are not a resident, you must get married in the county where the license is obtained.
- If you ARE a resident of Ohio, at least one of you must be a resident of the county in which you are applying. You will need to provide proof you are a resident of that county. You can use your driver’s license if the address is current or submit a copy of a current bill or pay stub showing your address. Ohio residents may use the license anywhere in the state.
